Young scientist, first from Vietnam to receive the ESPOR Prize

Hanoi, November 15 (Prensa Latina) Professor and Associate Clinician Tran Xuan Bach today stands out as the first Vietnamese to receive an award from the Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (Ispor).

The expert from Hanoi Medical University was ranked in 2022 by the data analysis company Clarivate, among the one percent of the most influential scientists in the world, and has just been awarded the 2023 Ispor Prize for Outstanding Research in Copenhagen.

National media commented that the award recognizes Schwanbach’s efforts over the past 15 years to evaluate and find social, economic, psychological and behavioral barriers in expanding new medical technologies, including vaccines and therapeutics, that contribute to the control of epidemics such as HIV. /AIDS and Covid-19.

During that period, he also proposed theoretical models to guide the quantification of pandemic risks and develop policies to improve the health system’s capacity to respond to the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

Upon receiving the award, the young Vietnamese scientist emphasized that in a post-pandemic world, where health systems become more fragmented and vulnerable, the task of delivering evidence-based innovations becomes more important than ever.

He noted that this prestigious award not only demonstrates the importance and feasibility of integrating health economics and effectiveness research into the policy-making process in these fields, but also inspires scientists around the world to contribute more to creating a fairer and healthier society. .

In 2016, Xuan Bach, at 32 years old, became the youngest associate professor in Vietnam.

He is the author of more than 300 articles published in prestigious international journals, and last year he was ranked as the only Vietnamese scientist among the world’s top 10 to receive the Rising Star badge.
