It is a fact that Xbox rarely shares specific numbers of its services and sales of its consoles. We usually see official information several times a year, which leaves it up to analysts and niche sites to provide the details that many want to know. Now, Aaron Greenberg recently shared a tweet from VGChartz, which indicates a new number of units sold for the Xbox Series X | sAnd But this also sparked a controversial conversation among fans.
17 months after its release, VGChartz reported that Transcend Xbox Series X | S 13.87 million units sold. By comparison, the Xbox 360 numbered 9.38 million consoles in the same time period. This was information that Greenberg, General Manager of Marketing at Xbox shared on his Twitter account:

However, controversy arose this time when a fan pointed out that in 2010 Greenberg mocked people using VGChartz and other similar sites for talking about selling consoles, Commenting that there is no official source to support the information being shared.

Although Greenberg has not issued a response or clarification to his comment in over a decade, VGChartz did respond to the CEO’s latest message, Noting that they are making great efforts to make their estimates as accurate as possible.
