WhatsApp has revolutionized the way we communicate with our friends, family and other contacts, and has become everyone’s favorite, thanks to its simplicity, incredible versatility, security and privacy.
Likewise, in order to satisfy its various users, Meta developers are constantly releasing new updates for WhatsApp Which makes it more convenient to use, and the functions it transforms into, in addition to enhancing the security and privacy of all subscribers.
In this sense, in one of the latest WhatsApp updates, the “companion mode” was implemented and here we explain what this new tool is, what it does and how you can activate it.
What is “companion mode” in WhatsApp?
“Companion Mode” is a tool added to WhatsApp’s “Multi-Device Mode,” and its main purpose is to facilitate communication between different devices with the messaging app, allowing for greater connectivity in different places at the same time.
Although this was already possible, compatibility with WhatsApp has now been extended to more devices, so you can activate your account on your cell phone, tablet, computer or other mobile devices, without losing the synchronization of your messages and without it being necessary to have your cell phone nearby.
The only drawback to ‘companion mode’ is that it only works on devices that have the same operating system as the original account.
However, some users who have already tried this new mode mention that they were able to link Android accounts with their iPhone’s iOS, which is why there are not many restrictions on using this new mode.
How to enable “companion mode” in WhatsApp?
This mode is very useful for people who have two WhatsApp accounts, whether for school or work reasons, allowing them to activate both accounts on the same device or on several devices, and receive their messages synchronized without any inconvenience.
To enable Companion Mode in WhatsApp, simply follow these steps:
1- First you have to download the beta version of WhatsApp on your mobile phone using the original account. This way, the application will be duplicated.
2- Later, on the secondary device to which you will link the account, download the WhatsApp application.
3- Once downloaded, before entering your cell phone number to log into your account, you must select the three vertical dots that appear in the upper right corner of the screen.
4- Then choose the “Link Device” option and the app will automatically give you the QR code.
5 – On your mobile phone that has the original account, open WhatsApp and select the three dots in the upper right corner.
6 – In the menu choose the “Linked Devices” option and select “Pair Device”.
7- The camera will open automatically and you have to scan the QR code of the secondary phone generated in step 4.
This way, you can open your WhatsApp account on different devices, where you can receive and send messages simultaneously without any disturbance.
