Virtual and augmented reality tours at the Museum of Natural Sciences

The City Council of Valencia has approved the appointment of project management to develop the Museum of Natural Sciences to display its contents with innovative resources such as augmented reality, virtual visits and 3D films. This contract, awarded to Acciona Culture Engineering, SAU, will be implemented within 9 months for €162,350 and will promote the above-mentioned project, designed by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, which was put out to tender for €1.1 million.

The aim of this initiative is to attract a wider audience as well as attract the attention of a technophile audience, both tourists and locals, who are looking for fun and immersive experiences in this cultural center located in the Viveiros Gardens that houses the best European collection of works of art. Fossils from the Pleistocene era in South America, including twenty skeletons and more than five thousand bones belonging to more than twenty different families of mammals. ​

The project considers 9 actions consisting of augmented reality mobile application development; Production of a 3D film and three audio and video clips; Or the development of two permanent interactive facilities, “History of Planet Earth” and “Cave of Hands.”
