The Venezuelan women’s team will participate in Group A with Argentina, Brazil, the United States and Cuba in the America’s Cup, according to the draw conducted by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The tournament will take place from July 1-9 at La Feria de Mexico Dome. In Group B, Puerto Rico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Colombia will play.
The draw was presided over by Federation President Carol Callan, who noted, “This is the highest level of women’s competition in the Americas and once again back in Mexico, it is the perfect setting to show the growth of women as athletes, coaches, administrators and referees. This edition will once again showcase the best athletes from Our region, both the game’s legends and rising stars.”
The top four from each group will advance to the quarter-finals to compete for a place in the semi-finals and then the final. The top two from the tournament will qualify for the Paris 2024 Pre-Olympic World Championships, those who fall from third to sixth place will go to the Americas Pre-Olympics and the top seven will earn a ticket to the 2023 Pan American Games.
