For the fifth year in a row, the University of Valladolid has been selected to enter the prestigious ARWU Shanghai ranking, which includes the top 1,000 universities in the world, after analyzing the data and activity of 25,000 universities from dozens of countries.
Thus, out of 84 Spanish universities, only 40 managed to enter this prestigious ranking, with UVa University, along with the University of Salamanca, the only two universities in Castilla y León to be featured in the results published this year.
A positive rating is consolidated, according to the President of the University of Valladolid, Antonio Largo, “thanks to the work of the entire university community, especially our researchers”, as it is the research results that carry the greatest weight in the world. Final ranking result.
As in the last year, the criteria that provide the best evaluation of UV rays are: articles published in the journals “Nature” and “Science” got 3.2 points against 2.9 in the last edition; Academic papers registered in the SCI and SCS indexes, with a score of 24.6 points compared to 24.4 in the previous edition. And the “academic output per capita” by 12.9 points compared to 12.1 in 2021. A slight improvement in all indicators in which the degree was achieved.
In full results, UVa is in the 9th division of the ranking (901 to 1000) along with the universities of Carlos III (Madrid), Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid), Cádiz, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Cantabria (shown present in alphabetical order) .
Besides this general ranking, in the subject-specific ranking ARWU-FIELD – Fields of Knowledge, the University of Valladolid stands out in a total of four specific fields of natural sciences, social sciences, life sciences and engineering.
With regard to the results obtained in 2022, UVa improves its score in the field of education, ascending to section 301-400, in the field of social sciences, and repeats results in the same section in the subject of atmospheric sciences, belonging to the field of natural sciences and agricultural sciences in field of life sciences. While the subject of food science and technology in the field of engineering remains in the range 201 to 300.
These subject rankings consider universities around the world that, over the years and for each field of knowledge, have reached the threshold of scholarly publications in the Web of Science and InCites.
