UV Miquiztli: The Health Sciences Unit organizes an event for the Day of the Dead – Diario de Xalapa

Students and faculty at the faculties of the University of Veracruzana’s Health Sciences Unit will come together to celebrate the Day of the Dead. October 30 will be all day and include the assembly of the altar in which members of Nutrition, Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing will participate, explains UV nutrition teacher Luz del Carmen Romero.

He pointed out that this celebration is special because for the first time it will take place in all colleges. This is to prevent everyone from spending, but even more so, because we are looking for a sustainable celebration and with the aim of encouraging university students to experience these holidays with their colleagues and the community.

For the first time in a cultural event that seeks to unify all faculties of the Health Sciences Unit.

He explains that one of the most important events will be the assembly of an altar in La Jacaranda Square. In addition, everyone, students, teachers and administrators, is invited to dress up as Catharines and Caterinas.

In addition, a bread, chocolate and tamale fair will be held. There will be miniature altars of life, according to the customs of the different regions of the state of Veracruz; High Huasteca, Low Huasteca, Totonaca, Sotavento, Mountains, Papaloapan Los Tuxtla and Olmeca.

Teacher Luz del Carmen Romero, responsible for spreading this cultural event, says that there will be another competition on creating literary skulls. To do this, young people are asked to write verses related to the topic of health, food, nutrition and diseases, as well as figures from the health and nutrition sciences.

There is another competition, which is the skull decorating competition, and the exhibition will be held at the College of Dentistry. The Katrina and Katrina Embodiment Competition will be held at the Faculty of Nutrition.

Finally, he said that night tours to Mictlán will be conducted in the faculties of nutrition, dentistry and nursing.

He explains that it is important to include students in this Day of the Dead festival because it is part of our culture and the traditions of the people of Veracruz.
