04/16/2024, Xalapa, Release- The University of Veracruzana (UV) is an institution with a lot of knowledge about anthropology, ecology, chemistry and social sciences, said George Lumne, Chairman of the ECOS Nord Committee in France, and announced the feasibility of the Franco-Mexican bilateral commission to develop innovations. During his two-day stay in Xalapa, Georges Lomne was accompanied by French academics and held working meetings with representatives of various UV fields, in order to identify projects that could be developed.
The professor from the University of Paris-Este, who led the delegation, said that 30 years after the establishment of the bilateral commission, they maintain relations with higher education institutions in Mexico, as well as Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. He explained that there is interest in working with UV in specific archaeological projects (archaeology intersecting with exact sciences), and interdisciplinary projects related to wood conservation, ancient fabrics, geopolitics, agriculture, humanities, and organic and analytical chemistry.
Meanwhile, Florian Meunier, Scientific Cooperation Attaché of the French Embassy in Mexico, stated that in addition to innovative projects, there is also the possibility of academic cooperation between higher education institutions in France with UV in the field of research and postgraduate studies. “We know that the University of Veracruzana has a great wealth of knowledge in various disciplines,” he said.
For her part, Anne Varenne, professor at Chimie ParisTech and coordinator of the Chemical Sciences field at ECOS Nord, noted: “There is a lot to do together, and there are projects in which the committee can work together with this university. “
At the end of their activities, the French delegation visited the Xalapa Museum of Anthropology (MAX), where they had a guided tour and held a working meeting with Director Alfredo Delgado Calderon.
Mario Oliva Suarez, Director General of International Relations of the UV, accompanied the visitors and said that the visit of the European academics produced satisfactory results that will allow strengthening cooperation between the IES of France and the UV, as well as promoting development. Of projects in the topics promoted by ECOS Nord.
They were accompanied on the visit by Celia Cristina Contreras Asturias, Director of the EEE.
The Bilateral Commission of ECOS Nord France-Mexico aims to create a cooperation system through which Mexican and French professors and researchers jointly develop research and teaching projects, especially those agreed between higher education institutions of both countries.
In the case of Mexico, there is support from the National Council for the Humanities, Sciences and Technology (Conahsett), the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES) and the Fund for International Cooperation in Science and Technology (Funciset).
