FC Cincinnati and Houston Dynamo advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open Cup on Tuesday nightwhich awards a place in next year’s CONCACAF Champions’ Cup (formerly known as the CONCACAF Champions League) as a prize.
Three more Major League Soccer clubs will play on Wednesday night, when Inter Miami will meet the Birmingham Legion, and Real Salt Lake will host the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The US Open Cup final will be held on September 27.

Cincinnati It became the first team to secure a place in the Semi-finals affiliate US Open Cupwith the aim of seeking to qualify for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup (formerly CONCACAF Champions League), thanks to a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Tuesday night.
Álvaro Barreal scored a second-half real goal and set up a header for Santiago Arias in second-half stoppage time to give FC Cincinnati a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at TQL Stadium on Tuesday night. The club’s rival from Ohio State will be eliminated from the matchup between Inter Miami CF and Birmingham Legion FC.
The first goal came in the 56th minute: Lucho Acosta threw the ball into the area, where Dominic Badji touched it to Brandon Vasquez to finish it off with a touch.
Barreal scored what would be the championship goal, connecting with his left foot from an Acosta corner kick, and kicked the USL Championship team home. Tola Showunmi discounted for visitors.
Chicago Fire 1 vs Houston Dynamo 4
Buoyed by a brace from Aliyu Ibrahim, Houston Dynamo FC reached the semi-finals of the US Open Cup by crushing Chicago Fire 4-1 away on Tuesday night at Bridgeview’s Seatgic Stadium.
The Dynamo will face the winner of Wednesday’s game between Real Salt Lake and the Los Angeles Galaxy in the semi-finals.
Amine Bassi scored from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, after Arnaud Souquet had knocked Nelson Quinones down in the area, for Adalberto Carrasquela to score the second goal in the 31st minute against Spencer Ricci.
Souquet pulled back by connecting a Xherdan Shaqiri corner with a shot to the far post on the 40th minute.
Ibrahim scored his second goal shortly before match time, after a rebound from Quinones, to make it 3-1. The fourth goal for the Texans came after 74 minutes, thanks to a cross from Hector Herrera, which Quinones converted into a goal.
