United Socialist Party of Venezuela announces candidates for governor in November 21 elections

The Socialist United Party of Venezuela (PSUV) announced today toCandidates for the position of governor for the November 21 elections, After counting part of the votes cast in Sunday’s open primaries.

The electoral commission of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela awarded the victory irrevocably to the candidates Luis José Marcano (Anzoategui), Argénés Chavez (Barinas), Rafael Lacava (Carabobo), Victor Clarke (Falcon), Jose Vázquez (Guarico), and Adolfo Pereira (Lara).

For her part, the Minister of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace Carmen Meléndez was elected as the candidate of the United Socialist Party for the post of Mayor of Libertador in Caracas.

Cabello estimated that more than 3,500,000 Venezuelans voted Next Sunday to elect representatives of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela in the regional and municipal elections on November 21.

He emphasized that more people went to the polling stations to express their will, but the logistics set up by the National Electoral Center (CNE) were overwhelmed and were not enough to respond to the influx of people.

In a phone call, the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, highlighted the broad popular participation in the primary elections of the country’s main political organization, a day that promoted peace, sovereignty and democracy, he said.

Maduro expressed his appreciation for the outreach carried out by the militant socialist leaders and called for strengthening the party’s unity to ensure victory in the upcoming elections.

Venezuela will go to the polls on November 21 to elect the country’s 23 governors and 335 mayors, As well as members of regional legislatures and municipal councils.

The renewal of the National Electoral Council and the call for elections were part of the agreements emanating from the National Dialogue Table in 2019 between the Bolivarian government and the various opposition parties.
