Two sheet metal docks are installed that can be installed on any dock and on any surface. It can also be sterilized between landings from ships, which means the grain can be handled for human consumption. Operations use the new Liebherr 420 mobile harbor cranes, which means faster and more time-efficient handling.

Simon Baird, Regional Director, Humber Ports, He said that “This is a cost-effective way of ensuring that we can load at any berth within a berth. It is an operationally developed and proven ability to receive and load grain for human consumption, which is part of our key competitiveness.”

Globally, Viterra markets more than 100 million metric tons of agricultural commodities annually. The company renewed its relationship with ABP Humber in April 2022 with the opening of a new 35,000 tonne storage facility located at the ABP Humber International Terminal. This is complemented by additional storage within ABP’s Bulk Park complex facility located within the Port of Immingham.

Already loaded onto the ship and scheduled to be loaded before the end of March 2023, an additional 75,000 tons have been handled by the new grain loading system.
