Associated British Ports (ABP), The UK’s leading port group, has welcomed the arrival of 24 wind turbine blades and sections for eight towers on board. MV Northern Rockwhich will go to Kirk Hill Wind Farm.
The eight turbines import project was completed in less than a month, with the arrival of four general cargo ships Port of ABP Ayr and that they will remain at the station until ready to move in near Kirkoswald, where the wind farm will be located.
Sarah Merrick, Founder and CEO of Ripple Energy, He noted, “Kirk Hill is the largest addition to our family of wind farms and we are delighted to have reached such an impressive milestone on the project, which is expected to be completed in early 2024. It has been a delicate process to offload such a large load of vessels, which have been handled.” It is expertly supported by ABP’s qualified team and in collaboration with Forsyth crane operators and Collett conveyors.”
Andrew Harston, ABP Regional Director for Ports Wales and Short CHe said: “As part of ABP’s commitment to support the acceleration of the UK’s energy transition, we are delighted to be able to provide the port infrastructure needed to support the delivery of a major project, helping to achieve our net zero emissions targets.”

The delivery of this project, via the Port of Ayr, comes after the port recently supported the delivery of the South Kyle wind farm at Vattenfall, which includes 50 turbines in East Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway.
