Umm Al Quwain opens the primary care clinic unit at the College of Medicine

The authorities of the Autonomous University of Queretaro (UAQ) and the Faculty of Medicine have inaugurated the Primary Care Clinics Unit, a new space for clinical practice, research and academia, which will provide health services of the highest quality at affordable prices. Likewise, it has been awarded the title of State Headquarters for Priority Program Epilepsy (PPE) and registered as a Center for Comprehensive Care of Epilepsy (CAIE).

During the ceremony, Dr. Teresa García Gasca, Dean of the Graduate School of the entity, acknowledged the great efforts she represents in raising a project of this nature. He pointed out that there is a need for spaces that allow the community to easily access services of this kind and what is the best way for the medical school to take concrete actions in this regard.

“The primary care clinic joining the Epilepsy Priority Program will provide a very important service to the university community and the community, and we will meet the needs that we can cover and in what we can support,” said the president of the university. Universities become spaces of learning, research, extension and communication.

For her part, Dr. Guadalupe Zaldivar Lillo de Laría, Director of the College of Medicine, emphasized that this institution upholds a commitment to life and health, as this academic unit seeks that excellence is the standard in training future medical students. For this reason, he emphasized that in addition to being a service provider, infrastructure is a symbol of the doctor’s mission: a professional who monitors life and health.

“This health center brings together the spaces needed to integrate primary care activities, promotion, prevention, education, and early detection of harm to health, with highly specialized counseling at accessible costs; the unit will provide its services to the people who need it most, without making up money obstacle.”

On behalf of the Minister of Health of Queretaro, Dr. Julio Cesar Ramirez Arguelo, Dr. Martina Pérez Rendón, Director of State Health Services, added that having a site that allows a comprehensive approach to epilepsy care is a major advance in this regard; The work, he said, must be done in an interdisciplinary and joint manner.

Dr. Juan Carlos Resendez Aparicio, Deputy Executive Director of the Epilepsy Priority Program, also stated that it is transcendental to talk about this disease, epilepsy, because it is so common in the community and many patients do not receive care or are diagnosed, for this reason seeks to integrate a record of National.

In addition, Dr. Yamil Matuk Perez, coordinator of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Queretaro headquarters, said that epilepsy is a public health problem and estimates the number of people with this disease in the state, for this reason, it is necessary to train first contact doctors and know how to treat and diagnose it.

Finally, Dr. Lenin Torres Garcia, Coordinator of the Primary Care Clinics Unit, added that it is a huge challenge that will bear good results, because it is an effort that comes from the university for the benefit of the people.
