To the tail of the pointer is over Rio Tinto PLC (LON π stock fell 7.71%, or 491.2 points, to close at 5,878.0. Meanwhile, Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON π cut 6.37%, 74.00 points, and closed at 1088.00, while Antofagasta PLC (LON π share 6.30%, 116.00 points, closing at 1,726.50.
Red numbers beat green numbers on the London Stock Exchange by 1,390 to 872, and 180 were flat.
NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON π shares rose to a 52-week high, rising 3.40% or 0.24 to 7.43.
Gold futures for April delivery were down 1.03%, or $ 17.70 an ounce. Regarding other commodities, crude oil futures for April delivery rose 4.93%, or $ 3.02, to settle at $ 64.30 a barrel, while Brent crude oil futures for May delivery rose 4.76%, $ 3.05, to $ 67.12 a barrel.
The GBP / USD was down 0.24% to 1.3919, while EUR / GBP was down 0.39% to 0.8609.
The dollar index rose 0.66% to 91,543.
