Investing.com – British stocks closed lower on Thursday; Declines in the sectors led to lower indices.
At the close in London, it was down 0.93%.
The best value for the session was International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LON:), up by 2.12%, by 2.78 points, to settle at 134.06 at the close. They follow him Berkeley Holdings Group PLC (LON:) which advanced 1.39%, or 53.00 points, to close at 3.00 and Barat developments PLC (LON:) which rose 1.19%, or 4.80 points, to end the session at 408.40.
At the bottom of the index was Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON :), which fell 4.86%, or 56.50 points, to close at 1.00. Ocado Group PLC (LON:) dropped 4.15%, or 28.60 points, to close at 660.00, while DS Smith PLC (LON::) lost 3.83%, or 12.50 points, to close at 313.80.
The red numbers outperformed the green numbers on the London Stock Exchange by a margin of 1,315 to 452, with the 456 closing flat.
Gold futures for February delivery fell 1.64%, or 29.85, to $1.00 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, crude for January delivery fell 0.40%, or 0.31%, to settle at $76.97 a barrel, while Brent for February delivery fell 0.85%, 0.70%, rising to $82.00 a barrel.
The GBP/USD fell 2.01% to 1.22, while the EUR/GBP rose 1.30% to 0.87.
The dollar index rose 0.98 percent to 104.43.
