Investing.com – British stocks ended higher on Thursday; Sectoral gains led the indices higher.
At the close in London, it added 0.90%, hitting a new 3-year high.
The best value for the session was Tui AG (LON :), up 8.48% or 13.15 points to settle at 168.25 at the close. They follow him persimmon PLC (LON:) which advanced 8.33% or 108.00 points to close at 1.00 and Barat developments PLC (LON:) which rose 6.69%, or 28.30 points, to end the session at 451.20.
To the tail of the cursor is over Sage group PLC (LON:), which fell 1.97%, or 15.40 points, to close at 767.60. AstraZeneca PLC (LON) fell by 1.60%, or 186.00 points, to close at 11.00, while SSE PLC (LON:) lost 1.33%, or 22.50 points, to close at 1.00.
The green numbers outperformed the red numbers on the London Stock Exchange by a margin of 1,234 to 595, with 467 closing flat.
Gold futures for February delivery rose 1.23%, or $23.05 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, crude oil for February delivery rose 1.73%, or $1.34 a barrel, to $78.75, while Brent oil for March delivery rose 1.98%, $1.64, to $84.31 a barrel.
The GBP/USD rose 0.86% to 1.22, while the EUR/GBP was unchanged, adding 0.19% to 0.89.
The dollar index fell 1.07% to 101.82.
