UK Indices closed higher; Investing.com UK 100 up 0.71% By Investing.com

Investing.com – British stocks ended higher on Monday; Gains in the automotive and components, travel and leisure, consumer goods and home construction sectors led the indices higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com UK 100 Index was up 0.71%.

The best value of the session in the Investing.com UK 100 was Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 6.59%, or 8.96 points, to 145.00 at the close. It was followed by Carnival PLC (LON: CCL), which added 3.35%, or 26.40 points, to close at 815.40, and Tui AG (LON: TUIT), which added 3.24%, or 50.00 points, to close the session at 1.00.

It was followed by Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which fell 0.95%, or 11.50 points, to close at 1.00. fresnillo PLC stock (LON: FRES) fell 0.65%, or 5.00 points, to close at 763.80, while HSBC Holdings PLC (LON: HSBA) lost 0.61%, or 3.90 points, to close at 631.80.

The green numbers outperformed the red numbers on the London Stock Exchange by a margin of 1,174 to 649, with the 489 closing flat.

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shares rose to a 52-week high, adding 6.59%, or 8.96, to 145.00.

Gold futures for April delivery rose 0.49%, or 8.95, to $1.00 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, crude oil for April delivery fell 0.92%, or 0.70, to settle at $75.62 a barrel, while Brent crude for May futures fell 1.01%, or 0.84, to $81.98 a barrel.

The GBP/USD rose 0.90% to 1.21, while the EUR/GBP was unchanged, adding 0.34% to 0.88.

The dollar index fell 0.48 percent to 104.65 points.
