UK Chancellor to tell G20 her country is open for business again

London, July 24 (EFE) – British Economy Minister Rachel Reeves will embark on her first international trip at the head of her portfolio by attending the G20 Financial Forum in Rio de Janeiro, where she will declare that her country, with a Labour government, is “open for business again”.

According to a statement from his department, Reeves will insist that “after years of uncertainty and instability” with successive Conservative governments, the new executive’s priority will be growth, which is why he will urge investors to “take another look” at the UK.

“In the coming days, my message to world leaders will be simple: after years of uncertainty and instability, the UK is open for business again,” Keir Starmer, a minister in Labour’s government, said three weeks ago.

Likewise, she will use her position as the first woman in UK history to become Chancellor of the Exchequer (the title given to the economy minister) to promote the importance of women in the world of finance.

At the G20, Reeves will also urge international cooperation in areas such as inequality, growth or progressive taxation.

Brazil has put negotiations on issues such as sustainable development financing and taxes on the wealthy on the meeting’s agenda. Efe
