Positioning itself as a benchmark in the training of highly competitive human resources to carry out research work and solve current problems in aquaculture, fisheries, coastal zone management and more sectors, the Faculty of Marine Sciences (FACIMAR) of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) has launched the 27th edition of the Doctorate in Sciences in Aquatic Resources.
Dr. José Adan Félix Ortiz, Director of FACIMAR, spoke about the importance of this program that has been part of the postgraduate educational offer since 2010, with an academic faculty staffed, for the most part, by researchers known for their quality in the field of the National System of Researchers (SNI).
Likewise, he reported that this research-oriented educational programme has two editions per year, so applicants must be professionals with a profile in the field of agricultural sciences, biotechnology, natural and exact sciences or related.
He stressed that despite the PhD being offered for 14 years, it remains a cutting-edge and relevant educational programme, and said it is a specialist postgraduate degree that is at the top level of the National Register of High-Quality Postgraduate Studies from Conahsett.
He stressed that thanks to the excellent work carried out by university researchers to address current problems at the regional, national and international level, especially in the topics of sustainable fisheries management, aquaculture and aquaculture biotechnology, countries such as Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia are requesting advice and training in these areas and, in this sense, have announced that they are about to sign a cooperation agreement with FAO in Latin America.
