PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Que.-Ro.- Playa del Carmen natives Roger Alejandro Chavarria Díaz and Pedro Jorge Almada Meléndez have been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.

This scholarship is a comprehensive benefit provided by the UK government that enables emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a master’s degree at British universities.

This scholarship is designed for those who have the ambition, leadership skills, and passion to make a positive impact in their home countries.

This year, in Mexico, 2,000 applicants applied and only 37 (i.e. 1.85%) were selected, including two natives of Playa del Carmen, Roger Alejandro Chavarría Díaz and Pedro Jorge Almada Meléndez.

It should also be noted that 75% of those selected are women.

Roger Chavarria, who trained in political science at ITAM, has been accepted into the MSc Social Data Science at the University of Exeter.
