EL PASO, TX— Weekends don’t have to mean the learning is put on hold. In fact, the weekend experience may lead to a future in the medical field.
On Saturday, January 28, hundreds of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders from El Paso County will learn about careers in the health sciences during the 12th annual Medventure for Your Future program from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Texas Tech University Health Campus Science Center in El Paso.
The free event, hosted by TTUHSC El Paso, aims to spark interest in health sciences at an early age. Over 500 students and parents signed up for this year’s Medventure for Your Future.
The one-day event offers hands-on science workshops and provides parents with creative ways to encourage their children to learn about health sciences.
Workshops on heart, brain and veterinary medicine are among those students will explore on Saturday. Tours will be held in the Medical Education Building.
El Paso Electric President and CEO Kelly Tomblin will deliver the keynote welcoming the students and their parents. Tomblin is a longtime supporter of TTUHSC El Paso, including serving on the President’s Development Board.
Special thanks to Medventure For Your Future Sponsors: El Paso Electric, FirstLight Federal Credit Union, Destination El Paso and other generous event sponsors.
