Tico communists in solidarity with the Sandinista march in Nicaragua

In an editorial in the newspaper Libertad – a member of the Central Committee of the Progressive Workers’ Party – the Secretary General of that party, Humberto Vargas, asserted that “Yankee imperialism defended the brutal dictatorship led by the Somoza dynasty. To defend the dictator and the killer without permission they placed their soldiers in the city of Liberia (Costa Rica) ».

It states that after the victory of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, the United States began a fierce aggression against the people of Nicaragua, and notes that men and women gave their lives in defense of the national sovereignty and independence of Nicaragua.

Remember, the Sandinista government in Nicaragua sued Washington before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the damages done to the people of Nicaragua, and that court ordered the United States to pay $17 billion.

“The Court has fallen short in calculating the damages, and at this moment, if the judgment is carried out, it will have to admit to paying the damages it caused in addition to the interest accrued for nearly 40 years. It is a debt owed. But imperialism does not recognize the legitimacy of the International Court of Justice when it does not suit it “.

It highlights that in defense of the sovereignty of Nicaragua, many Costa Ricans gave their lives, among them, after the glorious July 19, 1979 – the overthrow of the Somoza dictatorship – and Yamiliz Lopez and “Baby” Romero.

The Tico fighters and the Nicaraguan Patriots have forged ties of friendship and solidarity that can never be broken, Vargas asserts and asserts that they are infinitely stronger than the shame spread by Yankee imperialism and its henchmen.

“Kurivios are submissive, generally well-paid, to serve the enemies of freedom and the sovereignty of all peoples. They are the servants of those who do not accept that peoples decide their own destiny without interference from outside,” the Secretary-General of the Costa Rican Communists denounced.

He pays tribute that Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo have really won and that this right has an ultimate basis, which is the majority support of the Nicaraguan people, which is why they won the elections.

Vargas concludes that the PVP was present in the electoral process in Nicaragua represented by two colleagues: Roberto Zelaya and Wagner Koje, along with 200 others from countries around the world.
