Have you ever dreamed of winning the lottery? Surely you imagine that if this happened to you, then everything would be much easier. However, this was not the case for Martin and Kay Tott, who are considered the worst couple in Britain.
By 2001, his life had changed. They were only married for two years and lived in Watford, United Kingdom. And even though they were playing the lottery weekly, they found out after 6 months that they were the winners of a prize equivalent to 4 million dollars.
However, from that moment the bad news arrived. They found out that they had lost the winning ticket and only had 30 days to report it to the lottery office. The agency employee found the record and they both went to the offices of the Camelot Group, the company dedicated to organizing the national lottery to claim their winnings.
However, Camelot informs them that they cannot receive it because the 30-day deadline has already passed since the drawing was made, to collect the prize.
The couple felt separated and turned to different celebrities to raise awareness of their cause. Among them is former minister Tony Blair. But all these misfortunes made them tirelessly divorced.
Marty noted that this track highlighted the insurmountable differences with their partner. “We had only known each other for two years, and soon a lottery test highlighted the differences between us. All we did was argue. Unfortunately, we agreed that we had to break up and Kai left,” he said in an interview with The Sun.
“Taking that money from us was torture. For a long time, I lost who I am and what I believe in. But I can honestly say now that I’m glad I didn’t get the £3m. There is no guarantee it would have made me happy.”
