The Institute of Basic Education of the State of Morelos (IEBEM), in connection with the Faculty of Science and Chemical Engineering of the Autonomous University of Morelos State (UAEM), has developed a three-month course entitled “Approach of Science to Society”, which sought to arouse the curiosity and interest of the participating children with regard to learning In this area.

This was stated by the Director General of IEBEM, Eliacin Salgado de La Paz, who explained that a group of 60 students from the first to the sixth grades of the “Unión de las Américas” elementary school and the Regular Educational Support Services Unit (USAER) No. 76, located in the city of Santa María Ahuacatitlan in the capital of Morelos, has been part of recreational activities in areas such as physics, chemistry, biology, and video game programming, among others.

Eliacin Salgado highlighted that the workshops were given by university students at the Maximum House of Studies on the Chamilpa Campus, and in which collaborative work and initiation of children involved in the social construction of learning were promoted; In addition, the said knowledge allowed students to participate in various science fairs as a strengthening of their knowledge.

The official said that the aforementioned tasks lasted three months to enhance collaborative work between teachers and schoolchildren and to initiate the social construction of learning among the participating children through the workshops provided.

In this sense, Eliacin Salgado highlighted the support of mothers and fathers who have noted greater familiarity with subjects such as literacy and mathematics, as well as creative skills in their children.

Finally, the President of IEBEM emphasized that these workshops influence the intellectual development of infants; But above all, their curiosity and innate desire of girls and boys to discover and investigate the most common facts around them is growing, for which they thank the elementary school board, USAER and the university for their willingness to act.
