With the participation of 15 high schools belonging to the Fifth School District, the third edition of the Science Fair was held on Thursday, where students of this level presented projects prepared with the advice of professors of physics, chemistry and biology.
The event was held in General Secondary School No. 6 «Prof. Rigoberto Castillo Mireles”, which was attended by the State’s Director of Secondary Education, Alfonso Wong Moreno, as well as the Superintendent of School District 5, Antonio Treviño Villasana.
Not only public schools but also private schools participate in the science fair, presenting about 40 projects related to topics such as the environment, food, beauty, power generation and mechatronics, among others.
Projects focusing on the prevention of problems affecting mainly young people, such as unwanted pregnancy in adolescence, as well as energy conservation, herbal mosquito repellents, among others, were also presented.
In this type of competition, projects that stand out on regional and state stages usually appear, so much so that some of them have been awarded the right to participate in international events.
The students who participate correspond to the three grades of secondary school, from schools located both in the metropolitan area of the city, as well as in the neighboring municipalities of Lira, Casas, Soto la Marina, Hidalgo.
In these science fairs, places are not allocated or prizes given, but they are a showcase for young people to show their talents, and to create projects that can be useful to society and even to the productive and public sectors.
