Oaxaca, Oaxaca, December 1, 2022. – On the Day of Chemistry and Chemistry, students from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the “Benito Juarez” Autonomous University of Oaxaca (FCQ UABJO), participated in the first Entrepreneurship Expo 2022, held in the XXXV Chemical Week, where they demonstrated Newly created products, as well as a variety of services.

Happy Expo is also part of the entrepreneurship program promoted by FCQ, to provide its students with the tools and knowledge that will allow them to expand employment and development opportunities.

FCQ UABJO’s Head of Entrepreneurship Area, Maestra Luz Candelaria Cabrera, reports that 89 students in class 9 participated in this first edition with 28 projects in different fields, some of which were implemented in the faculty’s laboratories.

Entrepreneurship and creativity

Claudio Mendoza Ruiz and Guadalupe Mendoza Medina presented a maceration project based on naturally cured plants and flowers, drying them in the shade to preserve color and aromas, with the idea of ​​combining them to offer new flavours. “The idea is that students can carry the tea in their backpacks and thus consume a natural product,” they commented.

“Bioesences” is the brand of Marian López Vargas, Edgar Eli Cruz Ramírez and Ariana Torres López, which offers products based on essential oils. “We wanted to make cosmetics that could be sold affordably, but at the same time take care of the skin,” said Marian, who also explains that she has created eyelash and eyebrow serums and facial soaps. Contains essential oils like castor, cedar, lavender, and rosemary.

For his part, Daniel Martínez-Mora shared that, together with his colleagues Itzel, Emanuel and Esmeralda, they made a red hand cream, “This color indicator helps us not to use the product excessively and not to spend more because we have seen that it is something that happens a lot,” and they made it clear that they got advice Dr. Asila Garnica, Head of the Pharmacology Laboratory.

A solid toothpaste in the form of chewable tablets, it was the product presented by the Mars Group, composed of Alía, Rosalía, Daysi and Briseida. The tablets contain activated carbon, which, among other benefits, with frequent use helps to whiten teeth and remove stains caused by certain drinks and foods.

In addition, the young students suggested innovation in presenting the product and contributing to the care of the environment “We want to reduce the use of plastic and that is why we chose to present our discs in a box.”

This exhibition provided an account of the creativity of the student community and the knowledge gained through the topic of entrepreneurship, regarding the development and quality of the product, its presentation, human resources and financial aspects, among other aspects of creating a micro-enterprise.
