Zacatecas, Zack. May 2, 2022. With the aim of promoting gender equality, reducing the wage gap, and enhancing the talents of girls and women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the Zacatecas State Government, through the Ministry of Economy and the Zacatecan Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (Cozcyt), has launched the “Program for Promoting Gender Equality in Science and Technology” engineering, and mathematics.
This program will enhance the skills and knowledge of teachers from the state of Zacatecas on this subject, who will replicate it in the basic educational levels, through courses and conversations, with the aim of promoting interest and appreciation for science from an early age, so that each time more women choose professional training in these disciplines.
In this sense, the Minister of Economy, Rodrigo Castaneda Miranda, said that only 3 percent of enrolled students belong to the field of mathematics and science, and only a third of researchers are women, and in the new government, headed by President David Monreal Avila, one of the priority axes is the promotion of education with Social significance and gender equality, because only through education will it be possible to transform Zacatecas from its bases.
