The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) has finally decided that the United States will be in the first pot of the Copa America draw that will be held on Thursday in Miami. The South American organization also revealed the rest of the pots that will determine the arrangement of the teams that will participate in the international tournament groups.

As the top seed, the United States avoids Argentina, Brazil and Mexico in the group stage, teams that also make up Pot 1 and will captain each of the four teams in the 2024 Copa America.
Argentina, as the current Copa America champion, will be in Group A as the top seed, while Group B will feature Mexico as CONCACAF Gold Cup champion.
The United States will be seeded in Sector C, after CONMEBOL awarded them that spot because they are the best team in CONCACAF according to FIFA rankings; Team USA appears in 14th place.
Finally, Group 4 will have Brazil as the leader, the team that arrives as the best ranked team in South America, according to the FIFA World Ranking of National Teams; Uruguay exited Pot 1 as a seed, but will be first in Pot 2, along with three major teams such as Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
