When asked specifically if Cuba would be invited, the US official in charge of Latin American and Caribbean affairs stated emphatically that no, and that the president’s decision was to leave these countries out of the country.

Cuba denounced last week, with the voice of its Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, excluding Havana from preparations for the forum and putting pressure on governments in the region that oppose this position.

The Cuban head of diplomacy emphasized that ignoring the presence of the Caribbean nation at that meeting would be a serious historical setback that would harm the objectives of the Convention.

Rodriguez emphasized that the intent to exclude the Caribbean country would be due to a politically motivated maneuver, as part of the double standards associated with the domestic and electoral situation in the United States.

The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, stressed that the United States does not understand that Latin America and the Caribbean have changed forever and that there is no room for re-doing the Monroe Doctrine and the vision of the American countries, which they intend to do. establish its dominance in the Western Hemisphere.

In the same sense, the same was expressed by the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who, in his recent dialogue with the Governor of the United States, Joe Biden, asked to invite “all the peoples of America.”

In an interview with the American newspaper The Hill, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio condemned the fact that the US government, as the host of the forum, feels privileged to call only whom it wants and is still calling for the Summit of the Americas.

In fact, de Cossio added, the White House intends to hold a meeting of friends who are able to listen to what the United States has to say, accept the US agenda and repeat what the United States says.
