The UK will seek to submit its candidacy for the 2040 Olympic Games.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan is concerned. For the UK capital to host the Summer Olympics again.

“Since I was mayor, I have been keen to make sure that London is the sporting capital of the world,” Khan told Bloomberg News on Friday as he traveled to Paris on the Eurostar. So far it has not been affected by a coordinated attack that has caused trains to be cancelled and others to be delayed.

Khan said he would speak to the British Olympic Association and the new Labour government led by Keir Starmer about a possible bid to host the 2040 Summer Olympics. The last time the games were held was in 2012, which is a rare success story for the event.

“We don’t have to build stadiums, Most of the infrastructure is in place, so we are in a unique cost position.“Khan said, referring to the aquatic centre and racetrack among the facilities at London 2012.

“I’m very interested in seeing other parts of the UK benefit from a future London Olympics,” he said, adding that “there’s no reason”. So Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and other parts of England cannot host certain events.

Khan said that so far this summer, about 6 million fans have watched sporting events including baseball, cricket and tennis in London. Adding that he spoke this week with TKO Group and World Wrestling Entertainment about bringing him to Europe.

“I’m also interested in bringing the NBA to London,” he said, referring to the National Basketball Association. If that happens, he would follow in the footsteps of the National Football League. and Major League Baseball, both of which have hosted regular season games in London.
