The United Kingdom reduced Russian imports to a historical minimum as a result of sanctions imposed for the invasion of Ukraine. In June, the volume of imports fell to 39 million euros, the lowest number since 1997.
According to the Office for National Statistics, it represents a decrease of 96.6% compared to the average monthly imports in the twelve months to February 2022. On the other hand, UK exports to Russia totaled 199 million, which is higher than the figure for May but this indicates A decrease of more than 66% with respect to the monthly average in the 12 months to the start of the conflict.
For his part, Italian Prime Minister Draghi announced that Italy may reduce gas imports from Russia to zero, starting in the fall of 2024.
