The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) today accepted Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s request to leave his post as a member of the Politburo, the Central Committee of the Party, the President of Vietnam and the Chief of National Defense – Security Council for the period 2021-2026.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) published that “The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for the Thirteenth Session held a meeting today to discuss and exchange views on the proposals of a member of the Politburo, a member of the board of directors of this political organization, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Chairman of the Security and Defense Council for the period 2021-2026, Nguyen Xuan Fuk, to leave office, cease his activities and retire.
The memorandum highlights that Xuan Phuc was born into a family with revolutionary traditions, and was a major leader of the PCV and the state, which arose from the base, to which he was assigned various important positions.
VNA adds that in his role as the country’s president for the 2016-2021 period, Xuan Phuc has made various efforts in leading the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, which have achieved significant results.
«However, Xuan Phuc takes over the political responsibilities of a leader, after many officials, including two deputy prime ministers; Three ministers committed infractions and misdemeanors with serious consequences. The aforementioned two deputy prime ministers resigned from their posts, while two ministers and various officials were subjected to criminal treatment.”
Being clearly aware of his responsibilities to PCV and people, the post adds, “Xuan Phuc has submitted a request to leave his positions, cease his activities and retire.” The news agency points out that according to the current party and state regulations, and given his wish, the Party Central Committee accepted his request.
