The President of Ecuador is on his way to Europe

Before leaving the Guayaquil military base, the President announced that at the Davos meeting he would be able to connect with the global investment community and promote business opportunities in Ecuador in various sectors.

For this purpose, within the framework of the Forum from January 16 to 20, the President will hold high-level meetings with world leaders, heads of state, representatives of multilateral organizations, businessmen and academics from different regions.

The General Secretariat of Communications of the Presidency stated that he would meet previously in the Spanish capital with the representative of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, as Ecuador hopes to host the Ibero-American Summit of Nations in 2024.

The trip will conclude with a visit by Pope Francis, just one day before his return to Andean lands on Sunday, January 22.

Alongside Laso, the chancellor will be Juan Carlos Holguín; the Ministers of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, Julio José Prado; Economics and Finance, Pablo Arosemena; Environment, Water, and Ecological Transformation, Gustavo Manrique; and other officials.

The Ecuadorian president is making the trip amid a corruption scandal in his government, in which his son-in-law, Danilo Correa, is accused of leading a network that profited from contracts with public companies in the energy sector.
