Several countries in Southeast Asia are easing or lifting travel restrictions altogether to welcome international tourists with open arms, and travelers are responding enthusiastically to the open call, with more and more seeking to travel to Southeast Asian countries.

International flight bookings to Southeast Asia have increased since the beginning of the year.
In the first quarter of 2022, the Philippines reported that it regained 42% of its international bookings from the same quarter of 2019. Along with Thailand, the two countries account for 51% of all international flight bookings in Southeast Asia.
The most open country in Asia
The Philippines and Thailand were among the first countries in Southeast Asia to reopen their borders. A week after Jan. 28 was released announcing the complete reopening of the Philippines to vaccinated travelers from Feb. 10, international flight bookings to the country rose 114%. A month after the announcement, the country saw a 294% increase in daily flight bookings.
Meanwhile, Thailand opened its doors to international travelers from February 1 under the Test & Go program that required several Covid-19 tests at different times of their visit.
Within 24 hours of the announcement, bookings for international flights were up 37%. After rationalizing the procedures Test and go On March 7, Thailand saw a 128% growth in international flight bookings.
Travelers to Southeast Asia come mainly from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. The bulk targets individual travelers who make up 44% of international flight bookings in the first quarter of 2022.
These solo travelers can include returning business travelers, resilient tourists, and Southeast Asian expats eager to go home without the need for quarantine.
