The project will invest in 11 corridors and 398 projects from Guatemala to Panama, and in the case of the Salvadorans specifically, investments will be directed primarily to road infrastructure, which will absorb five thousand and eight hundred million dollars, that is, 58 percent of the 10 thousand million dollars that will be spent. The country will contribute.
Rodriguez explained that progress will also be made in aviation infrastructure plans with investment projects worth $2,113 million in the aviation and airport sector, including the Pacific Airport, and in seaport infrastructure worth $632 million.
Another plan that should advance in the coming years is the Pacific Railroad, a sector in which $1,800 million will be invested.
The regional initiative, which was broadcast the previous day, aims to invest $52 billion in the six Central American countries, including $10.7 billion for El Salvador.
The public works chief stressed that in the case of railways, the goal is to unify El Salvador and Guatemala with Mexico.
In this regard, the government is considering the construction of the Pacific Railway and the monorail in the San Salvador metropolitan area. He explained that the Ministry of Economy submitted a request last July to the European Bank in the amount of 450 million to begin implementing the two projects.
Rodriguez pointed out that in addition to reducing the costs of transporting goods, projects such as the Los Choros Bridge include planting half a million trees.
He noted that the World Banks, the Inter-American Development and Economic Integration of Central America, among others, will participate in financing these initiatives, without excluding the support of Japan, the European Union, China and South Korea, among others.
