The international pétanque city of Huesca winds up wanting more

“There was a man who even said goodbye with tears.” Good atmosphere, sportsmanship and friendship prevail once again at the Ciudad de Huesca International Pétanque tournament, which takes place between Friday and Sunday. “People are again happy with the organization and how everything has developed”Says Carlos Garcia, President of the Alegria Laurentina Club, responsible for the competition, which has reached its seventeenth edition and has more than a hundred participants.

In the previous days, there was concern about the unstable weather condition and Plan B was made even if rain appeared. However, “Heaven was respected and everything was able to develop without problems.” On this occasion, due to the coincidence of the regional and municipal elections, the bullring in the capital of Huesca was replaced by the facilities of Alegría Laurentina.

The tournament began on Friday with the arrival of the participants and an informal competition until the teams of twenty men and 16 women became familiar with the tracks. On Saturday, the group stage took place, and on Sunday it was time for the semi-finals and finals. The big winner was the club Petanca San Vicente de Alicante who won the men’s and women’s tables. They were accompanied on the podium by Galicia Olivo and Club Petanca Zaragoza, while they were loaned out by Arcosur de Zaragoza and Tablanca Cantabria.
