The FTC wants to block Activision Blizzard’s purchase and authorization setup, report indicates

A bucket of ice water has fallen on Microsoft, despite the fact that it just closed its spectacular Summer Game Fest 2023 thanks to an Xbox Game Showcase that left many mouths open. What happened is that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will take new action to block the agreement.

According to information from CNBC, the FTC is about to file a lawsuit against Microsoft. His goal is to prevent the acquisition of Activision by Blizzard before the July 18th deadline for approval of the multi-million dollar deal.

A Microsoft spokesman said CNBC They would welcome this authorization because it would move the takeover case more quickly into the hands of a federal judge and that would speed up the whole process.

Remember, the FTC has already filed a lawsuit to block the agreement under which Microsoft will pay $68.7 million to buy Activision Blizzard. This will start a process in which the administrative law judge will have to make a decision that can be appealed by the panel to lead to a vote. In the event that this outcome does not favor Microsoft, the company has the option of appealing to a federal court.
