David Mina, former bowler of Industries and Matanzas in the National Series, used the Nicaragua Route to get to the United States, on Twitter Baseball specialist Daniel de Malas.
“Sources # Cuban pitcher David Mina (industrial and Matanzas) left Cuba on his way to the United States. Mina, 29, threw “No Hit No Run” in the national series,” the journalist said.
“Good luck and we’ll see him in MLB”, “He’s a young man with a good coach, could be included in another league” or “As such, the National Series will play Daniel Castro and return to the glories of the sport,” were some of the comments on the subject.
De Malas added that Mina was traveling with a group of 40 people to the southern border of the United States on a trip that more than 200,000 Cubans have taken in recent months.
Mina made his National Series debut in the 2011-2012 season, but didn’t shine until the following season with Leones de Industriales, with a score of 8 and 4. That year, people from the capital were on the verge of winning the island title.
Later, the bowler left the country for the Dominican Republic in search of a professional signature in MLB, but according to de Malas, “this intention was thwarted by beyond his talent”, so he returned to Cuba and entered the national series again, this time in Matanzas, the team in which he became the champion of Cuba. In eight Cuban series, his tally was 21-25, with 16 games saved.
“David Mina (…) when he arrives in the United States will decide his future. Whether it is to continue as a player now in a professional position or to devote himself to other careers. Both within and outside the sport,” he detailed in the sports magazine Swing Complete.
