Representatives of Finance Ministries from 13 countries will participate today in Chile at the 36th Fiscal Policy Symposium, at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). The meeting, which continues until Wednesday, will be attended by renowned experts from international organizations, members of civil society and academia.
Topics such as fiscal policy challenges in the context of low growth and climate change will be addressed during the meeting.
Other issues will also be analysed, such as public spending and its priorities to achieve more sustainable development, enhance income and debt sustainability.
The symposium will be opened by the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, José Manuel Salazar-Zerenache, and the representative of the Chilean Ministry of Finance and the official of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Laura Uroz.
The event includes presentations by members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank, the Inter-American Center for Tax Administrations, and the International Monetary Fund.
