Santo Domingo: The British Embassy in Santo Domingo celebrated the birthday of King Carlos III, which also marks the UK’s national day.
His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, His Excellency Mr. Moqbel Ali Obi and his wife, Sajida Qureshi, organized a reception at the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo Square with Culture.
The evening began with the Dominican and British national anthems, performed by the famous soprano Bora Tyson, followed by welcome remarks by Ambassador Ali and Minister Santos, who in a speech highlighted the excellent bilateral relationship between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom, which has been strengthened under this administration.
The ceremony was attended as a guest of honor by the Minister of the Presidency of the Republic, Joel Santos, who attended on behalf of the President of the Republic.
During his speech, Minister Santos expressed that it is a special day to celebrate the birthday of King Carlos III, noting that the perfect place was the Museum of Modern Art, where Dominican culture and arts reside.
“Relations between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom have been strengthened at historical levels, not only due to the growth of trade exchange, but also due to the various cooperation agreements that have been made … in sectors with a significant social impact on the strengthening of societies. And to those who need it most,” the minister said.
