The bridge that bees cross

London, Jan 21 (EFE). – Brentford not only plans his operations with football players in maximum detail, measuring statistics, comparing data; He’s doing it off the field too, where, before logistical problems arose, he scrambled to build a bridge that would help the club’s most important component: its fans, known as “the bees”.

So Brainford decided to build the East Bridge for the community playground. A metal structure located in the eastern part of the London Field that would connect the motorway to the field’s main street.

The goal was to allow fans arriving at the stadium via this route to easily access the stadium, with the eastern and western districts connected without the need for a full detour. Which is that Brentford Stadium is sandwiched between two train tracks and several apartment buildings, preventing quick transition from one part to another, unlike other “liberated” stadiums in the British capital, such as the case of Arsenal or Chelsea.

With this bridge, which began in 2018 and completed in early 2019, ready for the stadium’s opening, Brentford has not only achieved a new channel to allow fans to stream from the motorway, but also consider the thousands of people who will live in the apartments on the stadium’s east bank. And they’d like to cross to Kew Bridge station, which is closest to the square, if they didn’t have to turn around for several minutes.

The area of Kew is growing, where the famous Kew Gardens in London are located, and the stadium area has not been left out. When the bridge was raised in January 2019 for the final steps of its construction, the area was more than a plain, with cranes and workers ensuring that the stadium’s opening deadlines were met. Now, the community playground is practically imperceptible from the surroundings because the demand for land in London demands it.

In a city where old and low-rise homes predominate, apartment buildings are the way to fuel high rent prices with oxygen, and this has piled the playing field between one, two and three bedroom homes, driving rents up to over 2,000 pounds per month. The bridge acts as a link between it and the highway and the commercial part of Kew.

In order to implement the project, Brentford had to resort to a “careful approach” and obtain the green light from various institutions, such as “Network Rail”, the UK rail system, as well as with the city council area.

Now, when crossing the bridge and crossing the field barriers, the fan comes face to face with a bee sculpted in red and black and planted on one of the field facades, and with the shield of Brentford. It is the welcome that the London club extends to its people, whom it has taken into account first when building its new stadium and to whom it has provided all possible facilities.
