In letters sent to the Secretary-General of the Multilateral Organization and the President of the Security Council, the Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Washington was violating international law and the United Nations Charter by bombing sites in Deir Ezzor Governorate near the border with Iraq.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates denounces that this act constitutes a new link in a series of American attacks, with conflicting pretexts or shameful justifications that US administration officials brag about.
He warned that this aggression will have repercussions that will escalate the situation in the region, and constitute a negative indication of the new US administration’s policies regarding international law and legitimacy.
The document also affirms that it constitutes a clear violation of the Security Council resolutions related to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Security Council to take immediate action to stop the attacks of a permanent member against a sovereign state and founder of the United Nations.
