The National Supervisory Authority for Higher Education (SUNEDU) has granted a ten-year license to the University Medicine (PPM) program of the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC). This authorization represents the work done by SUNEDU in verifying the essential quality conditions of this program and the efforts of the UPC in adapting to these conditions, thus contributing to ensuring appropriate vocational training for its students.
During the evaluation, research training progress was checked by incorporating seven research topics into the study plan. In the same way it was found that the university exceeded the required minimum percentage of 5% of professors conducting research and secured in the national records of Concytec – Renacyt. These professors have publications in the Web of Science and Scopus databases with affiliation with the university in the period 2015-2021.
In terms of faculty availability for the teaching and learning process, PPM has 123 teachers who dedicate a minimum of 40 hours per week. Also, teachers who have a medical specialization or postgraduate studies in subjects related to these topics, are responsible for the specific and specialized courses of this programme. Training in the field of health services is carried out in the clinical, social and hygienic areas of health institutions for which teacher-teachers are appointed.

The availability of the equipped laboratories for the number of students enrolled in each study period, whose equipment contains a maintenance plan that ensures its implementation and subsequent verification, has also been checked.
In addition, according to the analysis, it was found that the university’s scientific output is located in Quintile 5 in the WoS Core Collection and Scopus, and in relation to the H-index (System for measuring the impact of publication citations) it occupies the same position. On the other hand, it also falls in the 5th quintile in the training dimension based on the average results of the national medical examination. Under this result, the software license was granted for a period of 10 years, which is the maximum term granted.
In February of this year, SUNEDU warned that suppression of its faculty to assess prerequisites for the quality of a medicine program would affect about 40,000 students of programs currently being adapted, from those under evaluation, in addition to those. who are about to begin their assessment, since without this system it would not be possible to guarantee that these students would receive a quality educational service.
To date, SUNEDU has licensed a total of eight medical programs in which nearly 8000 students are enrolled and required an adaptation plan for thirteen other programs in eleven universities so that they can fill the quality gaps that allow them to continue to provide service and ensure proper training of future medical professionals in our country .
