What is a Chevening Scholarship?

In short, the Chevening Initiative allows students from over 160 countries and regions to study in the UK for free. The initiative is funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its partner organisations.

Chevening offers scholarships and fellowships. Scholarships for those people who have been accepted into one-year Masters studies in the UK. The scholarships are for mid-career professionals who wish to take a short course (lasting a few weeks or months) to deepen their knowledge in a specific area. The list of scholarships includes the Chevening Gurukul Leadership and Excellence Fellowship, a scholarship for Indians organized by the University of Oxford.

Since both scholarships and scholarships are fully funded (flights, accommodation and courses are covered), students can focus fully on their studies and then bring their knowledge back to their home country.

The program identifies climate change as one of the areas of impact, with the hope that its graduates will lead the fight against this global problem in their own countries.

Who can apply?

Study for free!!. The Chevening Scholarship claims to not have a “typical” Chevening scholarship, but rather is looking for someone with the passion, ideas, and leadership qualities to make the world a better place.

You can apply for Chevening if you are a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country, have a college degree, two years of work experience (can be a full or part-time job, as well as volunteer work or internships), and have not received any similar scholarships from before.

One of the requirements is that you must return to your country of citizenship for at least two years after the scholarship ends.

What are the steps to obtaining the award?

What then?
