From this Tuesday, 2 August, and until 1 November, the call for Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK will remain open, an opportunity for Cuban university students intending to continue their studies abroad.

Scholarships are awarded to applicants from any field, who can demonstrate commitment and ability to make a positive change in society and demonstrate how a UK Masters degree will help them to do so.

Chevening offers comprehensive financial support to scholarship holders to pursue any of the authorized master’s degrees at UK universities and to access academic, cultural and professional experiences in that country as part of their training.

The program was launched in 1983 and since then over 50,000 professionals have developed their careers in the UK.

In the Cuban case, more than 120 scholarship holders from the island studied a master’s degree at a university in that European country thanks to this programme.

For the academic year 2023-2024, 1,500 scholarships are available worldwide and the Chevening Scholarships fund all expenses for a master’s degree.

The scholarship is sponsored by the UK Office of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Development, in association with its partner organizations and universities.

According to the Scholarships Without Borders website, studies in arts and humanities, agricultural and veterinary engineering, education, health, services, social sciences, management and law, among other fields, are available this year.

Chevening offers two types of support programs. The first is for masters scholarships and the second is for mid-career professionals.

Applicants must submit documents evidencing completion of a Bachelor’s degree, at least two years of work experience, as well as providing references and an unconditional UK university offer.
