Sir Elton John is the UK’s most generous celebrity, donating more than £3,000 to charity every hour.
The Rocket Man singer, who is worth £450million, donates £74,000 a day to charities close to his heart – that’s £3,082 an hour, or £27million a year.
Researchers at digital raffling platform Raffolux, which raises money for charities, found that Sir Elton barely edged out Harry Potter author JK Rowling (£3,060 per hour) into second place.
The Harry Potter author, who is worth around £820 million, donates £3,060 an hour – £73,440 a day – around £26.8 million.
Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton (£1,255 per hour) was third.

Rowling, the Harry Potter author, is worth around £820 million, and gives away £3,060 an hour, or £73,440 a day, which is around £26.8 million.
Although the numbers seem large, the biggest donor to charities in the UK is Sir Chris Hoehn, an investment banker worth around £8 billion.
She donates a whopping £68,595 to charities every hour – that’s £1.60 a day, or just over £600 million a year.
This is 22 times more than the generous contributions of Sir Elton, who donates to HIV/AIDS, arts, music and sports charities.
A Raflux spokesperson said this week: “Sir Elton John was revealed to be the most generous celebrity last year, donating just over £3,000 an hour to charity.”
