Scientists warn of a new planet in the solar system that could end life on Earth – Enseñame de Ciencia

Every time we talk about topics related to the universe, it causes us a lot of feelings, but at the same time it also causes us intrigues, and even more so if the Earth is involved.

Science has given us both good news and slightly disturbing news, but the truth is that until now we have been very lucky that nothing has happened to our precious planet (as long as humanity has existed), because we are in a vast, dark universe, full of matter and bodies. We are exposed to countless dangers, without much we can do, because above all we are almost insignificant (in terms of size and strength), this time we come up with a hypothetical situation that is not as amazing as we think.

This is a new and hypothetical discovery about a planet that would indirectly threaten life on Earth, because although it can be found between Mars and the great Jupiter, it poses a great danger to our planet.

Planetary Science Journal Publication of an experiment conducted by scientists at the University of California, Riverside. Initially, this was intended to focus on the single system’s largest rocky planet (Earth), and the smallest gaseous planet (Neptune).

In our solar system we have 8 planets, obviously not counting Pluto, of which 4 are rocky (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) and the other 4 are gaseous (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune).

After this experiment, scientists asked themselves the Million Dollar Question, “What would happen if there were a planet between Mars (the last rocky planet) and Jupiter (the first gaseous planet)?”

Which at first glance may not seem like a complete disaster, and we would all like to see the first picture of this planet, because after all, another planet in the solar system would not change anything, or at least we would think so without prior knowledge or very advanced as the case of scientists. But it would be really disastrous, if there were a planet between these two bodies, because with its orbit it would quickly expel the Earth from our solar system, leaving us without sunlight, and thus ending everything on its face, completely disastrous.

And the strangest thing is that Jupiter, the presence of this planet, would not bother him at all, even if he was relatively close. On the other hand, for Mars it would be another matter, because its orbit would be quite unstable if the AU of the new planet was at 2. And if this new planet was close to 3 AU / AU (astronomical unit), the stability of the solar system would be what It’s fine and won’t affect anything.

This could be a double-edged sword, being able to damage even the entire solar system, or just be there, without having to make a fuss. But we won’t know for sure which path the new planet will take.

Share the science, share the knowledge.
