Santandiana Martha Bayona won the bronze medal in the Nations Cup race in Canada

Santander cyclist Martha Bayona confirmed her good sporting moment by winning the bronze medal at the Nations Cup in Milton (Canada) on Friday, defeating Canada’s Lorient Genest in two races.

“Very happy with this medal in the speed test, now I will be in the 500m and I thank all the people who support us,” said Santander, who is competing in Antioquia where she has received more support to improve her performance.

Martha Bayona had the fifth fastest qualifying time, which allowed her to advance directly to the round of 16, the round in which she defeated Italian Miriam Vessi.

In the quarter-finals, she defeated the German “Ant” Leah-Sophie Friedrich, while losing in the semi-finals to Canadian Kelsey Mitchell, the current Olympic champion of the event.

In the bronze feud, Bayona was able to win in both rounds over Canadian Lorient Genest, which secured her a bronze medal in that test.

At the last Nations Cup, which was held in Glasgow (UK), those that appeared in the San Martin district of Bucaramanga won three medals: in speed (bronze), in the 500-meter race (gold) and in kirin (silver).
