Knockout Gervonta Davis returns to the ring on Sunday, December 5, to face Mexican Isaac Cruz in the lightweight competition.
Davis sent Mario Barrios an 11-round knockout at 140 pounds last June and is back at 135 pounds after leaving some doubts at the ultra-lightweight. He will now defend his crown from the WBA World Boxing Association.
Cruz arrives without losing much and not gaining everything as he replaces Rolando Romero, who is facing sexual assault charges and forced out of the evening, with a few days’ notice.
The contest will be on Sunday at Staples Center and the main card will begin at 5 PM PST. The fight will be broadcast in the United States on Showtime Pay-Per-View.
If he wins, Davis is keeping an eye on George Camposos Jr., who surprised Teofemo Lopez with his decision last Saturday.
