Researchers from Camaguey receive the National Prize of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba 2020 (+ photos)

CAMAGUE, NOVEMBER 9 – Four scientific results have been awarded the Cuban Academy of Sciences Prize, corresponding to 2020, and the Academic Honors Distinction to two of Camagüey’s most prestigious researchers.

Among the works awarded, in the Department of Social and Human Sciences, Theoretical and Practical Contribution to the Professional Scientific Training of University Students and Teachers, Universidad Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Luinas and its lead author is Dr. C. Evilio Felipe Machado Ramirez, who died this year.

Awarded the Carlos J. Medal Finlay also posthumously for this professor and researcher, an honor supporting his extraordinary merits and valuable contributions to the advancement of science.

On the other hand, the historical and cultural investigations of the Camagüey public cemetery, conducted by this Graduate House and the Center for Building Restoration and Development Studies, with the lead author of Doctors of Science Adela Maria García Yero, and Oscar Diosdado Prieto Herrera, among others.

Likewise, the Study of Professional Education in the Treatment of Disability, presented by the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey with Doctors of Science Maria Cristina Pérez Guerrero and Madeleine Muñoz Ramirez as lead authors, was awarded, along with another group of specialists.

From the Department of Technical Sciences, a prize was awarded for data preprocessing methods for collaborative filtering systems, contributed by Doctors of Science Yailé Caballero Mota and Raciel Yera Toledo from the Universities of Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila.

Once again, the work of Doctors of Science Luis Eduardo Rafael Alvarez Alvarez and Olga de la Caridad García Yero, who in April of this year were chosen as honorary members of the Cuban Academy of Sciences and became part of its plenary session, was praised, an incentive that has been awarded in this calendar to 22 personality in the state.

“Scientific activity is a productive force of great importance and plays a fundamental role in the economic and ideological sphere; it is no coincidence that the leadership of the country at the present time has emphasized the importance of science for the development of Cuban society. Society is proud of the results of the past period”, expressed the multi-award winning literary critic Luis Alvarez .

At the meeting, the relevant institution has the privilege of receiving awards from the Cuban Academy of Sciences to the University of Camagüey for its relevant scientific results during 2020 and its direct connection to scientific progress in the Territory.
